The scale ranges from D (colorless) to Z. The more colorless the diamond, the rarer and more valuable it is. We prefer to use stones in the upper range.
This describes natural inclusions in the stone, from flawless (FL) to visible (I). High-clarity diamonds appear clear and unblemished.
Carat measures the weight of the diamond (1 ct = 0.2 g). Larger stones are rarer – however, the perceived sparkle depends heavily on the cut.
