The Diamond Guide

Four characteristics determine the quality and value of a diamond. We'll explain them – so you can make your choice with confidence.

C

Cut

The cut determines how a diamond reflects light. An excellent cut makes the stone sparkle vibrantly – for us, the most important of the four criteria.

C

Color

The scale ranges from D (colorless) to Z. The more colorless the diamond, the rarer and more valuable it is. We prefer to use stones in the upper range.

C

Clarity

This describes natural inclusions in the stone, from flawless (FL) to visible (I). High-clarity diamonds appear clear and unblemished.

C

Carat

Carat measures the weight of the diamond (1 ct = 0.2 g). Larger stones are rarer – however, the perceived sparkle depends heavily on the cut.

Every diamond at BRILLANTI is GIA or IGI certified – whether natural or lab-grown. The certificate documents the 4 C's independently and verifiably.
